To be honest about this I see the Hawks alot as I split my time between Minny and Illinois, Fletch should take some heat for this deal. As I would have preferred to see Leddy stay as Wild property, the real bad part of this trade is not that Chuckie traded Leddy, that happens in the show quite a bit, the bad part is that Barker turned out to be such a bust. I like Nick, but seriously I don't ever see him playing any higher then the 4 spot, maybe a 3, but to me thats a big maybe. And its not because he is behind Keith or Seabrook, thats just how I see his talent level. I think he will be in the show for a long time though. Time to take the heat off of Chuckie for this one. He should have known how bad Barks sucked but he didn't...

As a Minnesotan with Scandinavian heritage, it seems to me the Wild need more players from Minnesota or players directly from Sweden or Finland. On the other hand, I am starting to worry about this Granlund character...

Worst trade ever...no doubt. Fletcher got fleeced on that one.

Not only that, Johnsson was a pretty good defenceman. Granted he had his moments but he was good at feeding the puck up ice and he logged tons of minutes, a good +/- too. Plus I saw him in MN like a year after the Hawks won the cup so he stuck around the area. No clue where he is now. Everyone knew Barker was a flop. It was a horrible trade. A steady defencemam and a young prospect for that tool shed? I bet Cam Barker would have derailed the Hawks cup run that spring. maybe...

Johnsson stayed in MN because he got concussed in Chicago at the end of the season & never played again. Johnsson was not going to resign here & that is why Fletcher traded him.

Yes, it was a bad trade. However, it's a better situation for his game in Chicago. He gets the benefit of playing behind Seabrook and Keith and I'd say Oduyja and Hjalmmerson are also ahead of Leddy. Here in Minnesota, fans expectations would be for Leddy to be a Top-2 guy and he simply wouldn't be living up to those expectations. Regardless of the trade, we've got some solid young defensemen that will develop over the next couple years. I have been very impressed with Brodin and excited for the style of play Dumba will bring. Let's stop beating this dead horse - that trade took place a while ago now.

You're not gonna hit home runs with every deal. Overall, I like the work Fletcher has done and the direction he has this thing going.

Hind sight is 20/20. It's easy to look back now and say it was a bad trade. But at the time, there were many factors in play, including wanting to dump Johnsson's salary and get something in return for him. Did they whiff on Barker? Sure, but it happens all the time in sports. Fletcher took a shot and it didn't work out. Overall, he's still a significantly better GM than DR and has made many more good moves than bad ones.

Good Deal! I still can't believe Leddy continues to keep his spot in the Hawks line up. He doesn't skate well, can't shoot(and his OT goal the other night was a lucky random shot). Remember his time at UofM? He had 6 pts or something in 2 years! Leddy looked like a disaster his freshman year. WILD fans shouldn't be crying because a MN kid made the roster on another NHL team. When you see Leddy play, do you ever ask yourself, Man...I wish we had that guy! Nope.

Every GM makes a trade that he wishes they could take back. Fletcher looks like he knows what he is doing, Schultz for Gilbert looks good to me. Drafting has been solid since he took over...Leddy, Hackett, Grandlund, Zucker, Brodin, Dumba, Lucia...etc....I think he has the team on the right track. The only blemish is the Leddy deal...Move on from this and to OSHo017 point, playing with the superstars in Chicago is a plus as well for Leddy....
