On TV, he was vociferous about taking a "pound of flesh back" from the banks who were unfairly foreclosing on the homes of his constituents. Has that happened? Nope. The only thing he has done lately is help to give a guy from New Jersey hundreds of millions in Minneapolis' public money. Samuels is a hypocritical opportunist.

Samuels has a positive vision for our town, and he's as viable as anyone in the race so far. He'd be a good mayor I think. If you listen to him talk, you know he cares and you know he's capable of inspiring everyone.

Of the three announced candidates Samuels is the best among them.

The mayor is the chief executive of the city. It is a stress filled job being a CEO. One measure of a candidate's qualifications is staying calm, and NO crazy talk or unreasoned behavior. Don Samuels said "Burn down North High. I mean Burn It down!" I take the man at his word. Much more recently, in the dark of the evening in 2012, he impetuously "jumped out" of his car to confront and chastise a couple men, one of whom was Urinating on West Broadway. He was then threatened by them and one of them robbed him of his cell phone. He required and received police service at that point. Luckily he did not need an ambulance. He was proud of his actions and boasted of his adventure in a story he submitted to the StarTribune for publication. These two events are book-ends of his tenure as a City Councilman representing North Minneapolis; there is more. Should the voter's of Minneapolis empower Don Samuels to follow through on such wild and crazy talk and reckless and impulsive actions by making him mayor of this City? I think not.
