Gee, imagine if MNDOT actually did something to change the situation on 494 through Plymouth and Maple Grove. But no. They instead plan a temporary $35M solution (think Hwy 100 in SLP & 169/494). So lets cause massive economic disruption twice! I bet that feeds the unions well. What a joke of an organization.

I drive this stretch frequently and have not noticed any unusually bad pavement. Must be more "stimulus".

I am glad they are fixing a major problem. I am sorry a problem is going to be there while a problem is created. Call that real life. Get used to it people!

I also want to add that I have not noticed any bad pavement on that stretch. But it might be fair to say that most freeways in the metro are need upgrades/expansion. Sadly we waste millions on light rail which is not carrying its own weight. I admit I rode the train N/star to Holidazzle. My 2 buck, obviously subsidized ticket, might have paid the train crews coffee break expenses....and not much else

Can't they do it some other time? This will be really inconvenient.

re: "Gee, imagine if MNDOT actually did something" dr4golf, maybe if our politicians actually funded this agency even halfway as much is needed to provide adequate transportation for Minnesotans, you'd be happy. Don't blame the agency, dollar for dollar, mile for mile, MnDOT does Minnesota well. Of course, if we ever DO get to a point where our transportation needs are adequately funded, then you'll be griping about paying the taxes needed to support the improvements...

Sadly we waste millions rebuilding roads that don't carry their own weight and need constant, and expensive, repairs. We waste 100's of millions every year on roads and we aren't even keeping up with basic repairs. I'm glad we have light rail in some areas to get people out of their cars as the congestion and cost to maintain and expand the subsidized roads, and gas, would break the bank if they weren't riding the train.
