If Obama is talking he is lying. The 2nd Amendment says the right of the people to bare arms shall not be INFRINGED. The 1st Amendment says the right of the people to free speech shall not be abridged. WHY do you think the framers used a stronger word for the 2nd Amendment versus the 1st Amendment. Gun control proponents also have to look up the 18th century definition of "regulated" versus the 20th century definition. Maybe then they will wake up. 18th Century "regulated" does NOT mean Government regulating as it does in 20th century.
It is not about hunting.
Me. President, with all due respect, the Second Amendment isn't about hunting, it's about being able to protect ourselves from a tyrannical goverment...and this shall not be infringed.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
The reason the shelves at Cabelas, etc are emptying of guns is not because of hunting but the threat of tyranny and economic collapse. Wake up Obama and historic media.
Obama should listen. Banning guns from law abiding citizens won't solve the problem. Enforce the current laws, implement universal background checks, and close the gun show loophole(s). Stop being divisive and get something done!
mwellcome: "Obama should listen. Banning guns from law abiding citizens won't solve the problem"
great example of the problem with the other side. They argue their straw man arguments as if it's reality. People like this offer nothing to a realistic debate.
If obama thinks that we, the people, should listen more then he ought to try saying something worth listening to. Hasn't happened yet as far as I can tell.
The last gun ban was not renewed because the FBI and other law enforcement agencies conclude it did nothing to reduce crime or violence committed with guns. Why aren't Pelosi, Obama and the anti-gun zealots listening to that?
ALL the proposals won't make a felon any less likely to carry a gun in the city. ALL the proposals won't make a crazy say "I just want to kill a lot of little kids, but I don't have any way to do it".
The "statistic" that 40% of guns at gun shows are bought and sold without background checks is a statistic that was developed before the Brady Act was passed in 1993. Yet liberals keep using that 20 year old statistic as if it was from a recent study. The facts are that a statistically meaningless percentage of firearms are bought and sold at gun shows now. If it wasn't so; the liberals would be staking out gun shows and providing documentation of "massive amounts of sales without backgrounds being done".
