Better game by the Gophs tonight. I like the Mavs team though, they will be a tough team to beat come tourney time. They have scoring ability and great goaltending.

Good win for Gophers...Mankato is no cupcake this year. This Williams guy made some great saves. Now on to St. Cloud!

The Mavs are a team that works hard down low and on top of Wilcox. The D men did a better job of clearing the rebounds to the side to the forwards so they could pick them up and transition out of the zone. Williams was on top of the low shots most of the night with his quick feet so the Gophs should have gone up high on him more. Wilcox was consistent both games and gave the Gophs a chance to win them as did Williams. The disallowed goal was definetly punched in and with his hands up high, similar to a high cross check motion. The officials got it right even though Hastings blew a gasket. The Mavs are a scrapy team but the Gophs have more finess. PP looked better tonight as did the MS. Nice match up for the playoffs. The WCHA race has just become tighter and the Gophers will have to play every series like they are playoff games.

Nice to see the Gophs. come back and PLAY. I don't understand the Friday night trend. This is the LAST season of the WCHA as we know it. The motivation to finish atop should be there every game. The Mav's seem to always be a frustrating team to play. The true test comes against St. Cloud next. They are flying under the radar and playing really good hockey. We had better be ready to play BOTH nights.
