Hennepin County will survey homeless youth

County is going beyond its annual head count to try to determine why young people wind up on the street.

You don't need to be a "Rocket Scientist", or have a PhD in Social Studies, to at least have some ideas about WHY so many young people are "Homeless" these days. Jobs that pay a "Living Wage" are scarce, and the competition for those jobs is very intense too. Getting the necessary education for those "Living Wage" jobs is expensive. There must also be a shortage of Apartments that have affordable rental rates. I laugh when Downtown Minneapolis is widely publicized on getting more Apartments. I would imagine that those Downtown Apartments are going to be some of the MOST expensive in Minneapolis! It isn't any wonder to many of us that so many people are simply unable to afford one of these expensive Apartments, and wind up being homeless.

Lets have a new study to evaluate this "study", and appoint a new commission to regulate and administer it.

"All of this will help us better under the experiences the youth have and help us to identify what are the best services to offer them," Thornquist said..." Without a survey I can tell you - something immediate- like food, a shower shelter ... and maybe a dash of hope? There already IS help out there ... just not nearly enough of it.
