Well written Rachel, alway admire your work. Mavs earned this victory tonight, and it might have been the greatest hockey game I've ever seen. # 14 rises to the challenge & beats # 1 on their home ice. Go Mavs! Go State! :)

Blame the loss on UND? Wow. Classic yet pathetic excuse. Playing at home for over two months straight, the Gophers have zero excuses. Nice work Mavs!

Yet another Don Lucia Friday Night Flop. Thought teams were evenly matched, but Budish looked very slow and cost us a goal when he could not cover his man in front of the net. Alt and Helgeson sure do not know how to handle the puck like the rest of our defensemen, but sometimes I wish Marshall would forgo handling it altogether as he has a habit of getting cute and losing the puck. Just hope they can come back for the split tonight. Very disappointed but I have come to expect that Don Lucia has issues getting his boys ready to play on a Friday night. And St. Cloud easily handled North Dakota AT North Dakota so anyone blaming UND for the loss should get their man card revoked. That is embarrassing.

Don Lucia said he was impressed how the Mavs have improved since the last time they played. NO DON, you are JEALOUS. The Gopher teams under Lucia have a ton of talent but rarely improve. THIS IS COACHING. I bet you give this talent to virtually any other coach in the league and we would see improvement as the year progresses. Sure hope this is not a sign that Don is just a figurehead collecting an expensive taxpayer paycheck. Guess we will see how the rest of the year plays out. One thing is for sure, we are no longer in first place in the WCHA and I predict St Cloud will sweep us in a couple of weeks and will lock up the WCHA title.

Minnesota State is better than UND. Hopefully the Gophers bounce back tonight.

Hey! I don't think anyone felt the Gophs would go undefeated the remainder of the sesaon ... You know they were bested by a scrappier club last night. So hats off to the Mavs for a great match! I crack up - lots of hockey geniuses out there - lots of DonnieLu critics too ... none of whom have even so much as worked as a stick boy for a PeeWee Club let alone coached one. I get a charge out of the trolls on the board - with their amusing contributions, at times I'm not sure if I'm reading the Strib Sports section or watching Comedy Central! As for the 'Friday Night Thing' I may be wrong but i think they have about 75- 80% of Friday night points -not exactly a high 'failure rate'.

Out shot 20-9 in the 3rd period the Mavs stole this one because of Williams who stood on his head in the 3rd. The Gophers have been rated #1 or near #1 all season so everybody has them in their sights and brings their A game Minnesota at times is a slow starter and sometimes they pay the price for it as was the case last night. Are the Mavs a better team of course not, but last night they were there just enough and hung on in the 3rd to win. Gophs will be there at the end.

What, are they supposed to go undefeated the rest of the way?? Get real, even the best teams get beat. When you get to this point in the season, I think it's reasonable to assume that some teams are going to figure out how to compete with you when they've seen enough film. Lucia needs to take a look at this game and make some tweaks.

They needed a loss. They needed to remember the sting of losing. Hopefully this will wake them up to the realities of this league in that you can not take a night off, ever. I'm glad to see that Mavs having some success though. Good job by coach Hastings.
