Miguel Sano, a 19-year-old power hitter, is a big part of the Twins' future, especially if he can stay at third.

"Beltre might be the best defensive third baseman in baseball. The Twins probably would be happy if Sano is 80 percent of that." I am guessing they would not be happy with that at all and would move him quickly. 80% of Gold Glove is WAY, WAY worse than Plouffe.

"80% of Gold Glove is WAY, WAY worse than Plouffe"...Depends on what measurement..If Beltran's 'fielding' is an 80 on the scouting scale of 20-80, and Sano is a 68,(20 plus 80% of 60) the Twins would be happier than a pig in bleep.

Sano is an immense talent but the whole idea of developing players with no real relief coming from free agency is a little rough on the fans. You have to have the patience of a tree if you're a fan. How about lowering the ticket prices so the Twins faithful can at least come out to the park and work on a sun tan while the opposing hitters are taking bating practice off of our pitch-to-contact pitchers.

Let the hype begin.... again.

I'm not sure a 250 pound third baseman that hits 265 and doesn't field very well is anything to be excited about. i know that the sportswriters have to latch on to ANY glimmer of hope to keep anyone reading about this organization, but if Jimmy Pohlad doesn't care about this team,. why should we? Well, we do pay for the stadium via taxes, but we share none of the 30 million per year he puts in his pocket.

Hopefully, this guy will develop.....but how long do we have to wait???? 5 -6 years????? Too long.........

The hype is deserved, he is legit

"80% of Gold Glove is WAY, WAY worse than Plouffe"...Depends on what measurement" I guess thats true but I have never even heard about the scouting scale. To me, a ball hit to the left side should mostly be caught and turned into an out. A Gold Glover will mostly do that. If you are 80% of that it means to me that one out of every 5 plays that could have been made wasn't. We can hash this out forever so I will accept what you said. Depends on the measurement

sane09Jan. 26, 1310:31 AM

Dantes....I like your measurement better in the sense that I probably made 90% of those plays when I played.(which is not very good) If I can claim to be "90% as good a third-baseman as Adrian Beltre" (and even Brooks Robinson who can't be above 100%) it sounds much better than saying "sane couldn't carry those guy's jocks" which is more subjective and also more accurate.
