Good place to put up a vending truck outside and see how much money they make in comparison to the "healthy snacks" that they are serving inside. Who wants a turkey sandwich at a ball game. Everyone has to be in control of everything at all times. Why not offer both choices and see which one wins out.

ppmint, I agree. They should stop selling Gatorade and replace it with pure water as it is better for them.

The food being sold at concession stands should reflect the district's wellness philosophy. If the district believes that food plays a vital role in wellness, then having delicious and nutritious foods like this is an appropriate policy to have in place.

Let's see. Turkey sandwiches. In Minnesota that means lots of Mayo and put a hunk of cheese on that!

Ridiculous. If they want to offer shredded cardboard and water or watever in addition to normal fair, fine. See how much they sell. But who ever heard of not being able to buy hot dogs and pop at a basketball game. America: the food police are coming for anything that might possibly taste good.

The only thing I've noticed with this trend is that it forces them to offer higher quality items, instead of the 10 for a $1 hotdogs.

It's a slippery slope- first they take away our hot dogs. Next it'll be our guns.

..."more nutritious options like low-fat organic chicken burritos, trail mix and real fruit smoothies."... I challenge anyone to tell me how those are nutritious - chicken who have been eating who knows what, unnaturally prepared by removing fat put there by nature; the same flour and water served flat rather than raised; trail mix that is number one on the bad food lists of the ADA; and a beaten pulp of cellulose and pure fructose with a hundredth of RDA of any vitamin or mineral unless it has been added by a artificial powder, nothing but simple sugar guaranteed to induce insulin bounce... Trendy ? Yes. Suitable for gobbling without having many calories? If you like packing it on later when you are still hungry... Nutritious? When measured by achieving the recommended three component ratio of 15% protein, 30% fat, and 55% complex carbohydrates for lower-to-moderately active people? Not a prayer.
