The United States will never be able to afford the kind of welfare benefits enjoyed by Europeans unless it raises taxe
Your right, we cant afford that welfare nor should we be striving to build those types of programs where 50+% of the people live off the backs of those who work and produce!
Better to have underfunded educational systems, less access to advanced education, an underclass without health care, a declining middle class, crumbling highways and infrastructures, families without support mechanisms, the list goes on...All so that we can have the fourth lowest tax rate relative to GDP. Its important to maintain an increasing mal-distribution of wealth so that the fictional job creators can create even fewer jobs. That's what makes American Exceptionalism--mediocre and failing. But never let reality get in the way of Social Darwinistic purity. We wouldn’t want to be like that “socialistic” Sweden would we?
If you look closer at Sweden's tax system, the top rate is around 57%, not unlike here. U.S. Fed rate will be 39%, state 10% and FICA and Medicare is approx 7%. The difference between Sweden and the US is everyone pays in Sweden. The corporate rate in Sweden is 26%, I think it is 35% in US. Poorly written article.
