Gee the government isn't as careful with taxpayer $ as a businessman with a sharp pencil and his own $ on the line! ! ! Whoda Thunk :)

Estimates are just that, an estimate. Typically there are assumptions made regarding yield and process and such. In this case, as the story says, they assumed a certain level of interest from investors which did not happen. The story does not refute that the technology exists, only that there are no plants on-line yet. So, EPAs naivete is in that they thought people would invest in something that would be good for us as a country. They thought we cared. But we have investments in oil and that's the best money maker around. We'd actually have to care about something other than money, but we don't. Several plants will come on line this year, so eventually there may be a source. On a separate note, why is a court ruling on this? Why not talk to congress and suggest a delay until sources are available. I guess those dolts can't do anything practical can they.
