Target brands for its Canada stores may cost a bit more

Many "cheap chic" brands will be familiar, but most U.S. retailers charge more north of the border.

Really? Canada doesn't get the same "Made in a Junkistan" cheap products like they sell in the USA?

Yeah, its all the taxes for the social programs that add to the cost.

FrankL: Yes! And they also have health care paid for by there taxes. That's why Canadian buisnesses have lower cost of doing buisness but can pay higher wages to workers!!

Prices are set by markets. If prices are uncompetitive by one store or chain, their products won't sell. Since Canadians are, on average, wealthier than Americans, it would not be surprising if prices were also generally higher in Canada than in the US since they can afford more.

Canadians drive across the border for many items that are cheaper in the US. Food, Fuel are several not mentioned. Don't want to wait for medical care, go to the US. It's not cheap to live in Canada.

So is this article about price or about the exchange rate? Just saying a mention of WHY the prices are higher would be good.
