"McDonough has advised Obama on foreign policy for nearly a decade.." Facts matter and he's only been working in that position with Obama for five years which is a long way from "nearly a decade".

Details...who cares about the "exact" number of year...read his bio! This guy has an awesome resume and is an impressive representative of MN! Very proud to see a MN-nice/smart/respected/good guy get acknowledgement. Congrats!

d434478 - that kind of carelessness with the facts is exactly what got this country into Vietnam and Shrub's excursion into Iraq.

pjhawk95 He worked for the President when he was in the Senate also. So that's at least 8 years which is nearly a decade. So that's not carelessness with any fact

While I don't agree with their politics, I am proud, as a SJU grad, to see someone of such intellectual stature achieve this position. Well done Denis. You will do great. And you represent Minnesota well. Thank you.

Use your Google button Betty - In 2007 Senator Barack Obama's chief foreign policy adviser Navy reservist Mark Lippert was called into active duty and recruited McDonough to serve as his replacement during Lippert's deployment to Iraq. McDonough continued to serve as a senior foreign policy advisor to Obama during his 2008 presidential campaign. Once again that is five years as adviser which is not "nearly a decade".
