I'm just curious. Isn't this Boeing's first airline made with non-union employees? I believe it was manufactured and built in that good old right-to-work state called South Carolina. This airliner was manufactured in Charleston. S.C. without union help. Looks like they should have stayed in the Everett, WA and let the experienced union employees build it. I think this will cost Boeing a whole heck of alot more money than they saved moving production facilities to S.C.

I believe the plane is being assembled at both Everett and SC.

Those first 787's that were 3 1/2 years late were supposed to go to Northwest. They even had the manuals, the simulator in Eagan and the training syllabus all set up. But then Delta came into the picture and they didn't feel like waiting, so don't expect to see any Dreamliners in Minneapolis for quite a few years.

They'll get the battery problem fixed and the 787 will in all likelihood be a very successful airliner. It's just too good of an airplane; significantly more efficient and comfortable. And Boeing will have a big head start over Airbus in the use of composite technology. Airbus has been forced to play catch-up and redesign its A350 to use the same composite technology as the 787.
