I'm not a big fan of Tubby's coaching and I fault him for such things as not having a workable inbounds play and not preparing his team well for Northwestern's inevitable 1-3-1 zone with a week's worth of practice. But the biggest weakness of this club is they have no point guard, just a good shooting guard masquerading as one, and two other shooting guard sized starters with power forward ball handling skills (particularly Joe).

"It's tough to simulate [the 1-3-1 in practice]," Smith said... What more can you say?.. Ok - I suppose I could suggest getting a middle school team to come in and play 1-3-1 against them... Or try this - One guard goes out ten feet or so off the mid court, and then three go in a line maybe ten-15 feet behind him, and then the last one goes....

Those of us who have watched Goofer sports for the last way too many years are used to seeing incompetence and failure at nearly every level. Once in a while hockey gives the fans some very brief satisfaction, but football and basketball have been dead for a long time. Guess what, sportsfans, they still are.

Fdrebin, so why do you keep watching? So the gophers have 1 "really bad lost" and three other losses to to top 5 teams so what. Duke just lost BIG time to the #25 team in the country. Guess what this college basketball not the pros so this does happen. The real question is can the team bounce back. If they can then great and if not then Tubby has some explaining to do!
