As President Obama is backing this initiative, I suggest a "balanced approach" such as he proposes with respect to our debt and deficit crisis. Let's put "reasonable restrictions" on the sale of hyper-violent video games and movies. Let's require anyone who buys a hyper-violent video game or movie to get background checked for mental illness and/or criminal behavior. Let's ensure the government knows exactly who is buying these games and movies. Additionally, enact legislation so that any victim of a violent crime, who can link his/her assailant to violent video games or movies, is able to bring suit against the producers and distributors of those games and movies for economic damages and pain and suffering. It's a balanced approach. I'm certain the President would endorse it.

The NRA president claims that the mental health of citizens should be given higher priority rather than firearms restrictions. Accordingly, NRA members, if they possess or own firearms should be required to have their mental health evaluated and if found unstable, should self surrender their weapons to an authority and location approved by the NRA.
