We've become such a foolish, backwards society in the last 40 yrs that automatic weapons in schools are being considered as the norm. What a colossal joke! I'm ashamed to be a citizen in this country when we can't even comprehend how to solve the problem of violence in our society. This is so wrong on so many levels. You don't see armed guards in schools in other countries. Only in America, land of the free, home of the insane.
Armed guards have a consequence.....such as not enough money for school guidance counselors.
This is nuts!! The last time I went to a Minnesota Vikings game was in 2001 There were cops with combat uniforms on and holding asualt rifles. I gave up my season tickets and will never go to another game!!
I'm currently seeking my license as a teacher in the state of Minnesota. I will REFUSE to teach in a school with this kind of war-zone atmosphere. And for those of you who agree with this, will you pick up the tab at the amount it will cost us tax-payers? Please read this quote from our Founding Father Ben Franklin:"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety"
Freedomall, that is an interesting quote, but how exactly would a School Police officer with access to a rifle be impeding upon you liberty? They have these same exact rifles in there vehicles right now, do you feel that you aren't as free because of that?
@sublime Schools are not combat zones. Do you know the detrimental affects it would have on grade school children learning in a war-zone like atmosphere? The quote addressed above is the basis of everyday life. There are risks everyday in life, instituting a police-war state in our schools won't have these risks suddenly disappear.
How can this be tolerated in a state that is in open rebellion to the constitution reguarding firearms? Moreover how did they get those colts so far below market price? I know of a lot of dealers who will not sell to anyone in California under any circumstances because of their lawlessness.
The NRA will tell you that guns are tools, nothing more, nothing less. Maybe I'll fill my toolbox full of handguns and bring it into traffic court tomorrow. Just to see if the security officers there agree with that assessment. NRA = No Reality Allowed GOP = Group of Pretenders
I'm a citizen, a hunter, a defender of my family. Guns are nothing but tools, insurance. If you don't believe the NRA, believe your neighbors. Believe me. If your home or people are attacked by the lawless, there's a lot more justice to be had at the end of a gun, than at the end of a politician explaining how they will not be able to make you whole again.

The biggest problems with people getting shot in the country is in America's inner cities. That is a statistical fact and has been fact for the past 40 years or so. These American inner city areas where these problems exist are heavily populated by Democrats. If you Democrats and Liberals are so concerned about deaths from firearms, I suggest you address your backyard.
