Fedwa Wazwaz: Israel's 60th is not a reason for celebration

The Jewish state's creation came at an awful price that Palestinians continue to pay today.

It is ok to not celebrate the Israeli anniversary, but comparing the creation of Israel to the Holocaust which was an intentional effort to exterminate people, is overdoing it. Perhaps a better comparison is celebrating American Independence. Was that a good thing? To some yes, to some no. I cannot imagine that the native Americans of the 18th century celebrated all that much. I cannot imagine that the slaves celebrated. Yet today the ancestors of the slaves usually celebrate Independence day. Many native Americans fly the US flag and honor it - even with the checkered history.
