Happy, healthy Heatley making the most of his chances

After being held to 24 goals in his first season with the Wild, Dany Heatley has looked more like his high-scoring self.

We will see Heatley doing the best he possibly can this mini season because next year he has no contract. This is key

Despite his three goals, I think Heatley shoots the puck too much. Just here me out on this. When the top line is in the offensive zone, he is the only one that stands around looking for the puck in front of the net. He rarely forechecks in the corner like Parise and Koivu constantly do. He needs to be more involved offensively, and not just by shooting the puck at the first chance he gets. That's the only way that the top line will produce to expectations.

Two early observations. Our other three lines better start putting the puck in the net and rookie Mickael Granlund seems to be getting out muscled off of the puck a lot. Still early. Fun to watch Koivu, Parise and Heatley when the Wild control the puck on offense. Perhaps we will see Coyle, Zucker and Phillips earlier than we thought??

myblunder....that's the role the Wild want Heatley to play. He has a knack for being in the right spot around the net. Heatley is a goal scorer surrounded by two very talented grinders. If I remember correctly, Phil Esposito made his living out in front of the net and he did pretty well.

I agree with vanvader, though I feel like that line is really still feeling each other out. Parise and Heatley seem to have some chemistry already, but Koivu just isn't in sync yet. When that happens, it should be a lot of fun.

I like Heatley alot. I'm glad he is on our team. Just from what I see on TV, he seems like a great teammate based on the way he interacts with the rest of the team. I hope he puts in 30+ this year. That being said, I've got to ask... Who is the slower skater, Bruno or Heatley? I feel like he is so slow with the puck in open space, almost to the point of him being a liability if he has to bring it up the ice. Good thing he's got a couple guys on his line who are a bit more capable in that regard.

Mkia, you might want to do some research before commenting. Heatley's not in a contract year. He's signed through next year.

@markit8 - yea, Mkia doesn't want the facts to get in the way of a good story. ;-)

I been hearin a lot on the rant about how people are so ugh about Mister Setognucchi and maybe he is and maybe he isnt but Mister Heatley is happy and healthy and making the most of his chances and is the best #15 this team has ever had. #sorrynotsorry Copyright © 2013 crineoutloud™
