Blyleven reaches 3,000 K's, Puckett hits for cycle (August 2, 1986)

The crowd caught on early, clapping in expectation when Bert Blylevenhad two strikes on an Oakland batter, which was often. After strikingout Mike Davis on a curve in the fifth, the 3,000th strikeout ofBlyleven's career, the fans took to chanting, "Bert! Bert! Bert!" asthe strikeouts piled up.

The biggest sports travesty has to be Bert not being in the Hall of Fame. 3000 strikeouts should make it a sure thing.
