Didn't know that briefly lying wasn't lying, is he telling the truth now or is he briefly lying again?
who cares.......leave the kid alone. his life has been turned upside down and the whole world knows he's a fool -- isnt' that enough punishment?
You can "briefly" lie? Does that mean it counts or doesn't count. Just want to know. We're all looking for loopholes in life.
Brian Te'o was the one that had all the trumped up details about their meeting after a Stanford game. Did Brian Te'o make up that lie or did Manti? Clearly the Te'o's aren't the most truthful family in the world.
Thank goodness for Katie Couric, because if it wasn't for here excellent reporting skills the rest of the world would have never ever figured out that he was lying... "Briefly"
I Guess it's ok to cheat on your spouses. But only if its brief or. If you have your fingers crossed.
Who is this kid and why is this news?
I think most of us, as kids, have told a lie when we got caught in something. Kids panic and don't know what to do. Yes, he is a sports celebrity of sorts but he still is pretty much a kid. Give him a break. I don't see this episode as a condemnation of his character or whatever. He's a kid that screwed up. That's all. Was he wrong? Sure, but enough's enough
O, what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive!
Yeah, but hasn't he also said that he lied to his parents several months before that, making up a fake face-to-face meeting because he was embarrassed to admit he'd never seen his 'girlfriend'? Lying once out of panic might be excusable. Lying multiple times to avoid facing unpleasant discussions looks like a maturity problem, and makes people wonder what else you've lied about (or will lie about in future). If a kid pursues a career that puts him square in the public eye, he has to accept that the public will make judgments about his actions.
