Suter's time to shine will come. Parise is playing with veterans Heatley and Koivu. Suter's new defensive partner is 23-year-old Jared Spurgeon. Big difference.

You are looking at the wrong person. His defensive partner Spurgeon has been absolutely horrible making big mistakes in all three games. It was the same lst year, but Yeo and cronies continue to play the guy. He cannot clear anyone out from n from of the net, and is easily moved off the puck along the boards.

I have to disagree. Spurgeon plays much bigger than his size. It isnt only him who doesnt clear out the front of the net! I watched a Nashville guy stand 1 foot away from Backstrom, screening him, waiting for a shot to come to the net, for a good 30 seconds. I know Stoner was on the ice. We have got to start clearing guys out in front of our net. Last year was even worse, just pitch a tent and wait for the shots to come! I like Spurgeon, young, fast, good puck handler, nice shot and he plays bigger than he is.

strib1991, the author also said it takes a few games to get things together. What are you hemming and hawing about?

I disagree with magala's general assessment of Spurgeon, but mrbluesky, you must admit, Spurg had a rough game last night. He'll bounce back though.

Spurgeon coughed-up the puck late in the game that almost cost a goal in the 1-0 win. In the first game he was responsible for one of the goals as well. On the Backstrom goof-up, Erat was on Spurgeon's side. Wild can't afford his mistakes 3 games in a row. Play's bigger than he is? Do you even watch any of the Wild games? Do you drink the Russo/Yeo kool-aid on the guy? I don't care how smart he is in practice, he is a liability in the games.

Spurgeon = small, not going to overpower people, but can skate very well and make plays with the puck. As for Suter, he may not be on top of his game so far, and he has been on the ice for several goals against. Even so, it is quite apparent he is more comfortable moving the puck and making a smart play than any defenseman the Wild have had in years (and maybe ever).

mgalaforet: Parise made a horrible pass to Spurgeon who was being COVERED by Erat. That wasn't Spurgeon's fault.

He's a Sturgeon, not a Spurgeon.
