Sure, the comparisons are flattering, but recruit Chris Streveler is focused on learning his role on his new team.

If I was Philip Nelson I'd be getting my transfer papers in order,I wouldn't trust Kill any farther than Nelsom could throw him.

The NFL is filled with gopher "big things" isn't it!"....The NFL is NO measure of a COLLEGE quarterback!!!Who was better in college? Tom Brady or Matt Leinart?; Colin Kaepernick or Tim Tebow? If the Gopher "next best thing" plays in college like any of the following NFL busts did in college: Tommy Frazier, Danny Wuerffel,Ken Dorsey, Colt McCoy, Colt Brennan, Vince Young, Graham Harrell, Doug Flutie or Ryan Leaf, the Gophers will be very happy.

He is not even rated in the top 25 of dual threat QBs. There are 14 four star dual threat QBs. Ohio State, Northwestern and Illinois each recruited one of those. Looks like another overhyped recruit - but as Kill likes to say - he is young.

I think Jerry Kill is doing things the best way he can. Minnesota is not the draw for five star athletes in football that gravitate toward Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, et.al. As a result he must recruit lesser known athletes that he can develop into top-notch players.

We saw last season you need more than one QB. They go into slumps, they get injured and as new college freshmen students need to navigate their first time away from home and college coursework too. I totally agree with the poster who suggests that a good college level QB. A Doug Flutie or Gino Toretta would do fine by me! I didn't read this piece as 'over hype' as one poster suggested. Although the trolls are out, they are likely suffering from SAD this time of year ... in the darkness of their moms' basements between video games and no jobs.

This next "big thing" will need to compete in the Big 10. Did you notice how well Jordan Lynch played against Florida State? Lynch ran up yards against DII schools. Then ran his mouth before their bowl game. FSU shut him up. I'm not interested in projected talent, I'm interested in talent that performs on the field. This kid had one other offer (South Dakota St.). This isn't the second coming of Payton Manning or Cam Newton.

Good golly, the hype machine is going full blast. Look at all of the various rags and outlets that grade QB's and this guy is MAYBE middle of the road. What does Kill know that these folks don't? I remember when folks got all worked up about Gray and he didn't exactly set the work on fire. For now it is was it is, a QB that has to prove that he is much better than his rating.

Most northerly Big Ten city with an outdoor stadium in the same city as a pro team with an indoor stadium, soon an indoor Taj Mahal. Also a coach with notorious health issuesin his first two seasons that hollers alot. Last year the Gophers best running back was Gray and best QB was Shortell and both did not play in these spots. The defense was definitely improved last year but losses some players. Area fans have low expectations so a 4-5 record in the Big Ten and a bowl game will be considered a success.
