In 2008, the election of our first black president could be viewed as an emotional whip lash to 8 years of a horrible Republican president. In other words, a "fluke". In 2012, his reelection was a solid vote of confidence in him as a leader; his vision, his steadiness, his competence. In this respect, being reelected in spite of a sputtering economy was ever so much more of a mandate than his initial election.

The incessant fawning over this president will always confound me. A good number of Obama supporters like him for the shallowest of reasons. I come to that conclusion because, in many interviews, they can't give you specifics about what he's done, good or bad. (Check out ANY Obama article where college students are quoted.) So what are the reasons for the glowing adulation? Because he's a hip, articulate guy? Snap out of it already.

Rudo- do some research to find out why people like the President, don't rely on "person on the street" interviews to form your opinion.

rudo1212: "So what are the reasons for the glowing adulation?" Because he has accomplished more in one term than most Presidents do in two: Here's a recap of some highlights: Ended Bush’s lie-based war in Iraq; Got the Affordable Health Care Act passed saving billions over the next 10 years; Saved millions of jobs with loans (now repaid) to US auto industry; Pushed through Wall Street reform; Took economy from losing 700K jobs/mo. under GWB to adding four million new jobs in the private sector.; Fostered economic growth where DJIA could rise 100% since 4/09; Closed the “doughnut hole” in Medicare prescription drug plan; Ended restrictions on stem cell research; Got guaranteed health care for children; Ended insurance company restrictions on pre-existing conditions; Fully funded the VA; Got START Treaty approved; Improved education loan program to college students; Abolished Don’t Ask, Don’t’ Tell; Increased funding for the EPA; Supported keeping the government out of women's health care decisions with their doctors; Kept us safe from terrorist attacks, unlike GWB; and, reversing one of Bush greatest failures (there are SO many!): Found and killed bin Laden and other high level terrorists without the loss of a single American life. There's a lot more if you just look!

First -- likewise kudo's to the Fergus Falls band for representing us so well. And as an addition to ivehadit's well laid out rebuke to rudo, Obama did this in the face of Republican strategy to make him a one term president and block any positive intiative.

ivehadit, in other words, he spent more of my money on liberal causes, pushed an extreme left agenda and bailed out the UAW with my money. Thank you sir may I have another. Very little he did actually improves MY life, in fact most of what he did takes away my income or freedom.
