This is why I find second amendment supporters who say they need guns to "protect" us from tyrannical government so disgusting. We ARE the government! We have peaceful elections where we send people to Congress, the President, etc, for a reason, and if we don't like how those people are representing us, we have the power to change it, without violence.

Words from a President that is against everything this country is about, how sad.

Never in 236 years has the defense of the Second Amendment from those who would destroy the Republic from within been more important. Nobody is suggesting violence, but nobody should put their guard down for a second either.

I am so sick of people implying/saying Obama aims to destroy our nation. It's juvenile.

In 222, not 236, years of the Bill of Rights (the Declaration of Independence is not a law or collection of) the call to arms against the government has not happened often, but when it has it has been in rebellion to the laws and integrity of America. The bombastic view of gun lovers is they need weapons of war to defend themselves against an unjust government - yeah, just like all those great warlords in Afghanistan. Think for a moment if it even came to blows between gun owners, as a bunch of yahoos running around shooting the police, sheriffs, national guard or armed forces of the United States. See anything like we've already seen before in the news? Uh huh. I don't want to live in a nation occupied by people who love their weapons more than they respect the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness of the people. Time to grow up and give up the lust for weaponry, become a participant in the republic rather than a radical on the fringe.

"Words from a President that is against everything this country is about, how sad."...............Has it ever occurred to you that it's YOU and your view of America which is totally out of step with the rest of the country? The majority of us strongly support Obama's vision for America. I couldn't be prouder of him or more confident in his leadership. Apparently we are in the majority (thank God) in that he received nearly 6 million more popular votes and 132 more electoral votes last November. America has changed since the 1950s and all of you who rail against these changes are in for a really hard time.

Yes, we all need to work together. It would be nice if the President would take his own advice and start leading across the aisle.

" It would be nice if the President would take his own advice and start leading across the aisle."...................He spent four long years trying to do just that most of the time, to no avail at all. He angered his base countless times by acting as if the Rethugs were negotiating in good faith only to turn tail every time he moved toward the goal post which they kept moving. Enough is enough.
