Get used to seeing this, Obamacare is cutting reimbursement rates for health care services which will have a trickle-down effect in layoffs in the medical industry. Not to mention the 3% tax on all the medical device companies in the Twin Cities.

The moves come as the organization is "in the process of resizing and realigning" its flagship hospital "to position itself for growth in an evolving health care environment," - In translation, this is in response to the new regulations included in Obama care. Ask your Dr what they think. All the cuts and denial of care will be blamed on the Dr and not Obama. Get your procedures done now, while you still can. That is what mine said the other day.

Eliminating one too many vice presidents or top level executives would easily cover those lower tier employees who were laid off. Hospitals expecially choose to lay off employees that are the foundation of a good organization.

nicolletpark Jan. 21, 13 5:52 PM - "Get used to seeing this, Obamacare is cutting reimbursement rates for health care services..." I've read a large portion of P.L. 111-148 and have yet to find any reference to reimbursement rates. As a matter of fact, there aren't any. So, would you point out the code sections in P.L. 111-148 where it addresses these non-existent rates. Oh, the medical device tax of 3% applies to both domestically produced and foreign produced medical devices. Since the 3% tax will be paid by the patients insurance provider, and there will be up to 30 million more potential patients, it will have no effect on the producers.

NMMC has been poorly managed for years. Massive over-expansion, refusal to align with other providers. The list goes on. Thinking paramedics can be eligible for reimbursement for home health care services when they are not even listed as eligible providers by CMS.

How ironic that people are losing their jobs on the day the man responsible for it has his inauguration party funded by his rich buddies. This is one of a few hospitals in the area that announced layoffs as a result of Obamacare. Non-profit health insurer Blue Shield of California is raising rates 20% (in one year!) because of the costs of paying for Obamacare mandates (and you can't say "greedy corporation" about a non-profit, can you?). Thousands of medical industry jobs have been lost and will be continue to be lost because of Obamacare. Say, how many of these people losing their jobs today voted for Obama and are celebrating "four more years" in the unemployment office?

Sad days indeed. Employees look at their relationships with employers essentially as a marriage relationship. The employers look at it as nothing of the kind. The days of our moms and dads working for 40 years for the 3Ms, General Mills, Pillsburys, Medtronics, Fairview, United Healthcares, are OVER. These companies don't give a crap about their employees' well being any more. The average college grad today will have over a dozen employers by the time they retire, if they are so lucky.
