I listened to the game and when I heard them announce his name, I thought of JP in the stands and how truely proud of him I'm sure is. Started to cry right there. Wow...he's a good kid. JP you did good...taught your son well. You gave me alot of enjoyment too playing with the North Stars and can't wait to get more enjoyment with your son's career with the Wild. Thanks to you both for making Minnesota your home.

Fun team. Great having the hometown boy involved. Still a lot of room for improvement, but go Wild!!!

How embarrassing for Wild fans to start booing after one period of play, with all of the new talent. Good God, people, even pro's have butterflies and they've had next to no time to train as a coached team. What the frick do you expect? Perfection? Get a life. If I were Parise, Suter, etc., I might be thinking "we don't even get a one period honeymoon?" Just because you buy a ticket, quit thinking that you have the right to boo after one period of play. You are showing how absolutely clueless you are as fans. Real hockey fans don't act like that. State of Hockey? Maybe. Certainly not the State of Knowledgeable Hockey Fans. Those who booed at the end of the first period are imbeciles.

Memo to Zach: Go back and read comment logs about Mauer. You are golden until you start only getting assists, and not scoring goals (analogy to Joe just winning batting crowns, not hitting homers). Unfortunately, our fans have proven over and over again that they will turn against a local boy, especially when local boy makes big bucks. The first slump you hit, the tar will be getting warmed and the feathers will be getting plucked. I'm never in favor of treating anybody as heroes, in the REAL sense of the word. But it is embarrassing how quickly we will turn on a local guy, believing that the salary he earns affords us that right.

loop80. Fans didn't turn on Mauer because he was in a slump. They turned on him for missing a season with "leg weakness" while earning $20 million.

No surprise Zach plays the way he does. I'm old enough to have seen J.P. play, and HE had a relentless work ethic. Looks like his son is a chip off the old block.

Despite all the heroics, the most amazing thing I saw was Clutterbuck jumping up so the puck could go under him to the goal mouth. That was unbelievable!

I'm extremely happy that Parise signed with the Wild, but that cannot erase the resentment of stabbing the Gophers in the back, and then rubbing salt in the wounds by signing with North Dakota.

Though the booing was ridiculous, it pales in comparison to Zach's interview on KFAN with Dan B. Zach has played in three games...he has a point in all three games and the team is 2-1-0. Not a horrendous start. Dan, however, couldn't move past the bad goal Nashville scored. Spending a gut-wrenching amount of time asking Zach about the play and his bad pass that started the whole thing. Then he had to bring up the huge contract and asked Zach if he was ready to be treated roughly, like Joe Mauer, if he doesn't live up to expectations. Unbelievable. It was a pathetic interview and Zach called a spade a spade, by saying, "Good Lord...what's with all the negativity?"
