We need all the guns we can get.
From the commentary: "It only remains a great surprise that our nation has allowed someone else to take the lead [in producing fully trained soldiers aged as little as 10 years." One can only hope, Joe Pastoor, that the less well-read among us will recognize your excellent essay for the satire that it is. One can only hope, as well, that the impulse to encouraging community will prevail over the impulse to encouraging violence.
Excellent satire..........but it brought an epiphany to me: I'm as opposed to owning a gun as others are adamant about owning/possessing a gun. This shines a glaring light on the "great divide". I do not value, want, or desire guns, but for many others, the worship of this shiny object appears paramount in their lives. I find this incomprehensible.
Hey Joe, do you really think the target of your piece will get it?
I suggest mr pastoor work to protect victims of violence. I choose to protect myself and my family. Does mr pastoor object to me doing so? If do, why?
One can only hope, Joe Pastoor, that the less well-read among us will recognize your excellent essay for the satire that it is. *** I certainly found it a witty Swift-boating of the NRA's most fundamental premise. For an encore perhaps Joe might try an update of Geoffrey Chaucer's "Pardoner's Tale," an allegory in which three Flemish dudes set out upon a quest to kill "Death" but end up as casualties due to conflct of interest.
Since the proposal will do nothing to reduce crimes committed with guns it does not matter how modest it might be. Furthermore, liberals are intent on making gun ownership by citizens illegal. New gun laws are only the beginning. As Pelosi said about obamacare: "It is a good start...". These so-called modest proposals are only a good start for what liberals intend to do.

---------------------------- Please go read the original text. It will help you understand the point (which I'm pretty sure you missed completely.)
I am again reminded why the ranks of families exiting our public schools swell. Pastoor mocks - with little to no subtlety or charity - those who dare part from the gun control orthodoxy of the left. Among those Pastoor mocks must be at least half of his students' families in suburban Edina. As long as folks like Pastoor - and their open hostility and condescension to those they disagree with - are seen to predominate the culture of our public schools, the exodus will continue.
The real irony is that due to the Obamacare decision the federal government actually now has the power to enact this man's satire laced proposal. Get ready for a gun ownership mandate with a tax penalty for not owning one...thanks again Supreme Court and Obama...little did you know that your mandate for health insurance would have this ramification.
A most alarming development is occurring in CA where some schools are actually having mock gun attacks and teaching children how to run, duck, or otherwise avoid getting shot. What kind of country so values unfettered gun ownership over the lives of its children???? Back in the 50s, school kids were taken through practicing "duck & tuck" in the event of a nuclear bomb. Besides being utterly nonsensical, the fear triggered by the mere existence of these "practice" sessions is something I can still recall. Ducking under your desk for a nuclear bomb??? What were those people thinking??? At least those drills were about an enemy from another land; drilling our kids to survive guns massacres is all about the enemy from within: ourselves.
