The only thing worse than listening to Vitale broadcast a game you might want to watch is Tony Siragusa overstating the obvious during a Viking game. In either case, I mute the sound on my TV. That way I will not be dumber at the end of the show. Please don't sully your newspaper with more talk about this loudmouth.

When the discussion got around to "adapting to situations" I kept thinking about current NFL coaches' ability to do this compared to the great Bud Grant; no contest, is the only thing that came to mind.

Sid,Sid,Sid,did u watch the game last night? Vitale was a 'no show' the last 10 minutes of the game! Sid u r in your 90's,people love you'why can't you just state the obvious that despite having good players Tubby Smith is a terrible coach! He is a carbon copy of George Raveling

A couple, three paragraphs about the gophers and the rest of the article is about other states and city's coaches who once worked in Minnesota. There are other sports taking place here that Sid could watch and comment on.

I realize this is the Sid Hartman forum of hate, but I just wanted to comment that Dick Vitale makes college basketball THE most fun sport to watch WHEN he is commenting (yes, I said it, and I'm not even an avid NCAA fan)! There will never be another as good as Vitale!!

Are the Gophs still one of the best after losing another winable game, Sid ? The beginning of the typical Tubby Big Ten fade. Should have got rid of him when they had the chance.....

oh goodie, we should be happy because one of the big boys from the big east coast cities decided to pat us on the head and tell us how fast we're growing up

gees settle down with the ripping of this gopher team. Yes they are not a top 5 team, they have 3 losses, all to top 5 teams Duke, Indianna, and Michigan. I would have liked to see them steal one of those but they did not. This team just finished a tough stretch, its time to beat the teams we should. I think we will finish somewhere in the 3-5 range in the big ten and 10-20 in the nation. Thats a good team, just need to work on the turnovers as that is killing us in stretches.

Given that the Barn is usually a tough place for visiting teams to shoot, it was amazing that Michigan couldn't seem to miss a shot (especially in the first half). The fact that the Gophers weathered that storm and stayed within striking distance (as they did with Indiana) says a lot about the team. We just needed a couple of favorable calls and a better run (and some missed Michigan shots) to win this one. We may not be top 5, but we certainly can compete on that level. Both big ten loses could have been a different story. As for the Vitale haters...I get it. He seems to regurgitate the same credo's every game, but since I don't see him that much anymore, I like his energy and when you see him commenting you know it's a "big time" game "baby". His job is to be an energetic comment man, and nobody does it better. Though I see why old man Sid likes him since Sid was mentioned by Vitale at least two times. You kiss mine and I'll kiss yours!
