This article makes it sound like Banham's shooting night was an aberration, when in fact she came into this game shooting 32% from the field in the first three Big Ten games.

While the Gophers practically never win in Mackey Arena (even during the Whalen era), I was hoping they might be able to pull the upset as the Boilers looked vulnerable in the first three B1G games. The Gophers are going to have to get at least one or two significant road wins this season if they plan on making the NCAA tourny. Purdue played better than they did against OSU and the question about how the Gopher bigs would stack up against the elite bigs in the league was probably answered last night (although Kellogg got into some early foul trouble and foul trouble likely limited some post aggression on defense). Mingo, Manuel and Ostorello were just getting it fed to them in the paint practically every time down for several stretches in this game which is why the assist total for Purdue was so lopsided. Moses and Poston hit some nice threes, but this game was won down low. While the final score might indicate an eight-point loss, the Gophers never seriously threatened in this game and were really handled inside for the most part. The Nebraska game on Sunday is bordering on a "must-win" as the Gophers have Penn State in Happy Valley next Thursday. The Gophers really need to go 3-3 in these first 6 games (4 on the road) to give themselves a chance of getting 20 wins in the regular season this year. JMHO. Go Gophers!

Disappointing loss. Shooting percentage suffered. Riché's scoring this season but even she was off. For the team, the three point shooting threat needs development and may take awhile. This game against a top ranked team followed by Nebraska would have propelled the Gophers into the rankings. Sundays game is MUST WIN! The Gophers still are very good this year but still young.
