I'm sure all the bashers will be out in force but the facts are that this company has very little to do with the high "cost" of heath care as it's to their benefit to control it. If you're unhappy with the cost or benefits from your employer that's who need to talk to. FYI - I don't work for UHG.

The first comment may be correct but there is one flaw. Many of us do not have an employer or work for companies that feature the "right to work" abundance of benefits and pay our own way. As health insurance premiums rise, you can lop off another percentage of people who simply cannot afford to pay the premiums. I am close to that group now as I grow older, have had no claims, and yet my premiums consume one fourth of my income. The one and only reason that I continue to pay for health insurance is so I will not have to declare bankruptcy and that is the wrong reason.

"as a time of great potential and profits"... Somehow, I find this statement about as immoral as anything I have ever heard. Is this what the health care industry has become? Ethics have left the building with Elvis. Hemsley and CEOs like him, live in a different America than I do.

UHG is concerned about ACA...Why? UHG and other health plans were all in when it came to the ACA. Like the old adage says, "be careful what you ask for." UHG supported mandates, regulations, fines, and fees that can be used against them, their customers, and their members. The greed and desire to get a piece of the 37M uninsured will affect the overall financial health of UHG.

The mantra needs to be single payer. Let's take Medicare Part D for example. UHG makes about $500 million profit on sales of $5 billion as the #1 Part D sponsor with 4.5 million members. And they are only one sponsor. Our government already manages veterans' pharma benefits today. There is no reason on earth we need to be paying UHG or any other middleman to administer pharma benefits when it could easily fold under an existing program. Blame the insurance company lobby and your congressman for this taxpayer fleecing.

I think everyone in Minnesota should be grateful that we have such a large prosperous Fortune 25 company headquartered here - There are tens of thousands of familys in the metro area, employees of UHG, who are spending millions of dollars in our community thanks to this sucessful business.

Of course he is happy. He has the highest CEO pay/employee ration in the US.

Health insurance is a scam. We're paying thousands of dollars a year in insurance coverage for no actual health care. But when we do get sick, they fight to deny coverage. Paying money and not receiving a service is fraud. People should opt out of insurance and strike a deal directly with the provider. But then Helmsley wouldn't get his obscene amount in bonuses.
