Pull the permit! My guess is that nothing is getting published because there is nothing that we don't already know about these bears. They eat all summer and fall, mate, find a den for the winter, have their cubs, emerge in the Spring and repeat. When you hand feed bears you condition them to associate humans with food and some of them lose their fear of humans which can create dangerous situations. There is nothing natural about hand feeding wild animals. This "Dr" has made millions off habituated bears and causing conflicts with law abiding hunters. Pull his permit unless he agrees to print his "research" and stop hand feeding wild bears.

His research has nothing to do about wild bears. Once he started feeding and walking with them they became semi tame pets. I think his permits should be revoked.

As someone who has family within 2 miles of "Dr." Rogers research area, to say his bears are less than wild is an understatement. He argued the DNR was at fault and the bear was trying to play. The bear was in a garage where small children were present. Trying to find a peer reviewed article by Dr. Rogers online came up with the last one in 2009. Going online to his bio page none were listed. Take back the permit, make him publish within one year or don't ever give him another. I agree that Lynn has a greater knowledge of bear behavior than anyone living but that knowledge does nothing to help anyone and research needs to be reviewed. Lynn's conspiracy theories of everyone being against him grow old.

How can conditioning wild bears to accept the close presence of humans possibly lead to valid research? Unfortunately, these animals are no longer truly wild animals and have instead become de facto pets of Mr. Rogers. Wait for the uproar when a law abiding hunter kills another one of his "pets" because they no longer possess the instincts to avoid human contact.

I don't understand why they give this gray bearded grizzly man wanna be permits when he doesn't publish his findings.

Dr Rogers methods may be unconventional, but he has also uncovered and come to some unconventional findings in regards to bears. Probably some findings that DNR researchers are loath to admit. He is doing good work on behalf of wildlife and bears in an unconventional manner. Let him continue his work. Holding him hostage to the way MN DNR does things would limit his research. Without Dr Rogers, there would be no North American Bear Center.

I agree with others that habituating bears to humans is dangerous (for both) and skews the research, and the DNR would be correct to end the practice. Now, will someone explain to me why the DNR then allows bait piles for hunting bear.

The DNR sells OUR wildlife in this case Black Bears out so "Law Abiding Hunters" can kill them for fun & put their hides on their walls & floors. You want to kill the bears he uses for research, probably the wolves at the wolf center are Next in your sights as well right Mr. Anderson?
