How odd to see a picture of solar panels on a story about job growth. Xcel tried to end their Solar Rewards last year because it was too expensive. On net, these solar subsidies destroy jobs by taking tax dollars from a productive use in the economy and transferring them to something that doesn't come close to passing any sort of cost to benefit analysis. That's why Xcel wanted to end the program. Why the Star Tribune wants to inject controversy over solar subsidies into a basic news report on jobs is bewildering.

hobie2, I am a democrat and I want to see the job report in the spring. I will be over joyed if unemployment keeps declining and more jobs are being created. The reality is that during the holiday season more jobs become available and then disappear. The holiday season is not always a strong indicator to where the economy is heading. It is not good sign when people are pushing up the economy when paying for item on credit.

Thank you President Obama! And you did it while the Republican party did everything they could to prevent job growth.

Wait a minute, I thought all the jobs were going to the low tax Meccas like Mississippi and Wyoming.

Whatever spin you want to put on this, the fact is Minnesota's economy and quality of life is, and has been, better than these low tax-paradises like Alabama and Missisippi. The

Again, for the thousandth time, these numbers never include the people who have simply dropped out of the work force because the job situation is so bleak. Everyone -- except liberals -- knows this is true.

Once again, most of the job growth is in low wage occupations. The fastest growing and the ones with the most jobs are retail and professional and business services also known as temp work. Meanwhile the Senate wants to give workers only a quarter raise in the minimum wage--$10 a week or $520 a year. Oh yeah, and the Senate's bill keeps the minimum wage for employers under $625,000 in gross receipts at $5.25. Gee Thanks Sen. Bakk. Is this how our state values its workforce, best in the nation on every measure? With friends like the Senate Democrats, income inequality will continue to grow. For shame.
