Just for fun we see this article front and center because it dropped, even though the article states next weeks numbers will jump due to seasonal layoffs. The article next week will say 400,000 apply for unemployment and the story will be buried.

The numbers across the board are dipping because so many people have washed out of the labor market and through unemployment already. They have given up and are no longer counted. The economy is treading water at best right now....

theagonybho...people only like hearing things that are positive like the GDP is set to grow at 2.5%. Which in a bubble sounds like growth that is great! But 2.5 growth in GDP is not sufficient to significantly lower the unemployment rate. Hence, why this paper only publishes positive headlines it appeals to the lowest common denominator.

I do love the unemployment stories. The last two weeks the numbers have rose. Was the story featured, nope, had to dig to find it. Numbers drop and oh mylanta the story is featured.

"Weekly unemployment benefit applications fell 37,000 to 335,000" LIE!!! Reading the report at dol.gov, THIS is what it says: "The advance number of actual initial claims under state programs, unadjusted, totaled 555,708 in the week ending January 12". That 335,000 figure (which is impressively LOW--lowest in 5 YEARS!) is the Obama-administration's "seasonally adjusted" number. It is NOT REAL! The ACTUAL number of unemployment applications was 555,708 last week. And seasonal workers do NOT qualify for unemployment. You must be employed a period of time longer than 2 months and work a minimum amount of hours to qualify for unemployment. 2 MILLION people have filed initial claims for unemployment insurance the past 4 weeks. Those are not seasonal workers. The Obama administration's LIES go unchecked by the willing and complicit media.

This is great news if you are an ostrich or an Obama apologist.

The A/P writers are straining to find anything positive to speak of. Theagonybho speaks of the truth which is that now that the holiday spelling is done, millions of people are losing their short time jobs. It appears that many writers are trying to come up with any positive thing to talk about. We all know, in fact, that jobs are rare and better paying jobs are even rarer. Unions are almost gone and the better pay that were created through the strength of unions are gone with them. None of the A/P writers ever want to tell us the truth. They are just blowing bubbles to earn their pay. In truth, what jobs are really out there for all of the younger people? Just exactly where? I see that yesterday some woman are complaining that there are no people left who know how to sew certain expensive clothes. And you know what they are willing to pay if they could find someone that they want? About $12.OO to $16.00 per hour! Wow, think you could buy a new car or a new home if you got a job like that? Sure, writers, sure.
