Please tell us how these measures will stop the killing of kids everyday in Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, and every couple of days in Minneapolis. Tell us how these measures would have prevented Sandy Hook? This is nothing but trophy legislation. The biggest impact it will have will be the thump you hear as these politicians are slapping each others backs!

These measures are the very first effort made in over two decades to address gun violence. Thank God we finally have a president with the conviction and courage to take such a bold stand. This comprehensive plan is long overdue and extremely sensible. The only people finding something fearful in these common sense measures are likely just those individuals who shouldn't be allowed to own guns.

A president with conviction and courage? Are you kidding me? If he has so much courage, why isn't he making the tough decisions to fix the economy and the crushing debt instead of spending more money we dont have? If he's so concerned about children, why is he pushing so much debt onto our children and our grandchildren? This guy is bankrupting America and acts like a spoiled brat if he doesn't get his way, and we have people cheerleading for this guy. These "feel good" measures he wants to implement will do absolutely nothing to stop gun violence but is consistent with the way in which liberals make decisions - with emotion and not facts. Today it's AR-15s and when the next shooter uses a semi-automatic handgun, they will be the next item to be banned. This isn't about gun safety, it's about power, and the something "fearful" about these so-called common sense measures is that it won't stop here. The leftists won't be appeased until all guns are banned.

paulus: "If he has so much courage, why isn't he making the tough decisions to fix the economy..." He has and it is working. Compare things now to where they were four years ago. Instead of losing 700,000 per month, we're adding 100,000 to 200,000 new private sector jobs each month. A net improvement of almost a million jobs per month from where Bush left Obama and America. Stock market has doubled and corporate profits continue to soar. That's the results of courageous choices by a great leader.

Another liberal lie exposed regarding job creation by Obama. According to CNN, the net gain of jobs by Obama since 2009 has been 125,000. This was as of October 2012 and comes from a very liberal source, look it up. Too funny listening to the libs trying to defend the worst president in history.

The labor force participation rate has fallen from 65.7% in January 2009 to 63.6% in September 2012. There are 1.1 million fewer non-farm payroll jobs under Obama. If your figures were even remotely correct, we should have had a large gain in overall employment, correct? I guess I need to explain that there are a lot fewer people working now than when Obama took office. He's had 4 years, so blaming Bush doesn't really work anymore.

Paulus: Forbes magazine (not a liberal rag) just published an article that looks at all presidents since Eisenhower, and how much they increased federal spending. Guess who is the lowest? Obama at 1.4%. So now can we focus on passing some rational regulations regarding gun ownership?

It is a small man who trots out small people to make his argument.

This will definitely be a TOUGH fight because the NRA had "bought" the politician, both DFL and GOP. It is a sad day that the people we voted for and elected do not listen to the people but to the lobbyists. If this continues I would hope that someone publishes the politians that are WITH the NRA so we can vote accordingly.

...more than 900 people died from gunshots in the United States since Sandy Hook: Can we please see the breakdown of how many of these murders were perfomed by law abiding citizens, illegal aliens, street gangs, previous felons?
