Seems the Capital City is drying up totally. "Minneapolis - City of Lakes ... Saint Paul - City of Lake Beds" !

Mouthwash - Given that enrollment at Macalester, Saint Kate's, Metro State, Saint Thomas, Concordia, and Hamline is rising, your point makes no sense.

@ la0tsu - Do you mean "Minneapolis - City of Lakes ... Saint Paul - City of Small Colleges"?

Well... if you include the fact that St. Paul has zero nightlife, then mouthwash has a point. That city is just sad at night. Imagine what it would be like without the excel, it would be deader then Eden Prairie.

I have heard for a few years that the best thing for CVA would be Ann Ledy leaving. Under her mismanagement, they did a huge remodel and addition of space last year without expanding student recruiting efforts.

It's a shame such a great school would be run into the ground in her tenure as president.

Well, davidtbrooks perhaps you're just not the target market. I hear the suburbs calling your name. But for me, happy to hang out at St. Paul Grill, Mancini's, Pazza Luna, etc. any night of the week. St. Paul is old fashioned, provincial even - but it is unique and a treasure.

This story isn't about St. Paul, it's about a college that I, and many other people went/go to. It is a place like no other and sux that it's closing. If you've never been there or don't know what it's about, you shouldn't comment.

blahserblah, lol @ suburbs calling my name. Im a big city person. my remark was regarding the nightlife of downtown st. paul. If I go there at night right now I will not be able to go to St. Paul Grill, Mancini's, Pazza Luna, etc because they are all closed. If I go downtown MPLS or uptown I have many options. One city has entertainment, one city only has the xcel for entertainment. If you like the quiet life in St. Paul it sounds like you might absolutely love Edina or Eden Prairie. You should check it out!

I too have have been hearing about the mismanagement of Ann Ledy from student, professor, alum and more for several years. I remember hearing about her decision, as college President, to also make herself CEO! So, in other words no oversight. She drew an enormous salary and cut hours and wages of her faculty and administration staff. An absolute shame that she drove this fine college into the ground with her irresponsible leadership.

I have to agree with monica1872. I personally have never attended this school, but I have friends and relatives who have attended in the past and they said they enjoyed it very much and enjoyed the atmosphere with the instructors and their fellow classmates. It seemed like a top notch school. The one thing that was repetitive with my friends and relatives was the seemingly air of carelessness coming from the front office. If indeed Ms. Ledy is responsible for this, she should be ashamed of herself as she ruined a fine institution and drove into oblivion.
