This entire money wasting entity would be very high on my list of cuts if it was up to me. What a waste of tax dollars.

2.2%, right. You printed exactly what they were hoping for. Without even looking I guarantee it will be closer to 8 or 9% or more when you include alternative raises, ie steps.

and how much of this will be asked from the students with tuition increases, and if it is not there it will be buried in the fees and other expenses that colleges make the kids pay what a union racket.

The financial bloat in both the MnSCU and University systems lies with administrative pay and bureaucracy, not the faculty itself, despite this pay raise. Even if it ends up being 8%-9% FOR SOME NOT ALL, they haven't gotten a raise for four years. Does everything have to be a controversy?

Here is how it works. School raises tuition to pay for this stuff. Student takes out government secured loan. Student makes minimal payments for 10 years. Obama forgives loan. Taxpayers again pick up the tab.

The maximum pay for a MNSCU instructor (at least at a 2 year school) is $68,000 and a MA is required. Does anyone really think that is a huge amount for someone with 30 years of teaching?..so now after 4 years of no raise they get a 2.2% bump. As a private business owner, I can tell you that pay is pathetic!!

Meanwhile India and China value education and will bury the US!! Conservatives don't seem to understand it is a global economy and instead we in America spend all our money on the Military. Education is going to be the key to America's future...but let's treat it like it is a burden, while we spend our money everywhere else but in America!!

"dtmonkeyboy: The maximum pay for a MNSCU instructor (at least at a 2 year school) is $68,000 and a MA is required." ---- That is a lesser salary than a music, art, or phyed teacher at an ELEMENTARY school. Sorry to hear that.

You republican posters make me sick. No raise in four years and you think 2.2% is too much. Most step increases for government employees are in the range of 3% and they are merit increases, NOT automatic. Quit being so bitter. Maybe if you apply yourselves you wouldn't be pulling down "blue collar" wages!

I agree, stop attacking the faculty and focus on administrators who have 6 figure salaries and continue to get raises and bonuses well over 2.2%.
