It is clear the writer and the commenters know little about the Gophers. They do not realize Otto has a different shot from last year, his shooting mechanics were changed earlier in the year with terrible results and that the Gophers have huge problems protecting the rim against better competion unless Smith is willing to play Eliason and Mbakwe together many more minutes, which will be necessary to finish above fifth place. Also, the Gophers only effective substitution for Andre is Welsh and not Maverick and it is not clear if Smith knows this. Williams and Coleman can not shoot the three and need to be replaced by Wally and Buggs, the teams best wing shooters, when you are behind and need three's as in the second half against Michigan. Playing Coleman instead of Rodney when Smith plays Eliason and Mbakwe together is a bad decision. I have to assume Smith is concerned about angering Coleman who may be able to transfer with changes in the NCAA transfer rules while this is Williams last year. If Smith does not greatly increas the minutes Eliason and Mbakwe play together, look for Eliason to transfer. Wally and Mo may both transfer if the transfer rules change.
