Congress can't even handle what's on their plate now, why would anyone want to give them more to deal with.

Let's limit our powers by following rules developed by career politicians sitting in well furnished offices while our enemies use any and all means necessary to exploit these rules. There need to be checks and balances but don't handicap what has proven to be a weapon that likely outperformed our highest expectations. Find a balance without taking one our most valuable assets off of the table.

Excuse me, but the Congress is NOT the Commander in Chief. The use of drones saves American lives and cost infinitely less than massive ground forces. I know the Republicans would live to bankrupt the government by increased Military spending, but Obama and technology thwarted their plans. More power to him. Literally.

Oddly, for how much the neolibs didnt like W's war activities, the neolibs are just fine with a Dem President doing these vicious things.

The Drone is a military weapon. The decision of when, how, where to use this weapon rests on the military, The President in the Commander in Chief, he has the authority to say "go" or "no go" if he chooses to be part of that decision making.

Give this authority to Congress? Brilliant idea! As much as I dislike this President, he needs the authority to act when necessary. If you are eating with our enemies, you are in harms way. Ellison obviously has no military experience.

I am forced to agree with mnvet09's comment on this. Congress refuses to work together. They waste time and maybe as much money as they want to cut or tax. I am thinking power should be taken away from congress, not added to. Let them prove they are worthy of it. Clearly they are not now.

Representative Ellison, With all dues respect, estimates are 50 to 60 million people died in WWII with the vast majority of those being civilians in Asia Pacific, Europe, South America and even North America (as quietly as it was kept). Fact of the matter is that with the advent of military technology over the centuries, the ability to strike without personal engagement has and will continue to increase. As a result of this reality, the ability of those to "hide" behind civilian populations has made it more and more difficult to reach "evil." People who perpetrate hate and evil (Napoleon, Hitler, Bin Laden, etc.) are not playing by the rules and too eliminate the threat it may be necessary to not play by the rules as did Washington, Lincoln or FDR).
