Moore has an infamously colorful history of judicial misbehavior, including ordering massive granite monument to the Ten Commandments for the Alabama State Judicial Building

He takes the oath to God before the oath to the Constitution! You could call that a religious, activist judge! Of course, it's not hard to believe that Alabama would elect a judge who will rule by religious laws. Their schools are pathetic and probably don't know the difference between creationism (intelligence design) and evolution anyway.

Among the 50 states, Alabama currently ranks near or at rock bottom on virtually every quality-of-life index. Re-electing Moore is but a tragic indication that Alabama is doggedly committed to remaining at the back of the pack. The larger question: why are so many southern states insistent on remaining "failed" states? If nothing else, states like Alabama serve as sad object lessons for the rest of the country as to what happens when a state fully subscribes to a hard core right wing agenda.

proving once again that for every hot race on the ballot, judgeships draw a tenth of the vote in a good year. the opposed race is a rare one, and there is no politicking or door knocking by judge candidates because "it ain't seemly." I'm surprised more stone lunatics don't try for glory in an elective judgeship, but then, I guess you have to be agile enough to pass the bar exam.

With Alabama ranking at the bottom of the barrel on nearly every single quality of life index - why would this surprise anyone? They take more from the federal budget than they give back and create more long term problems than virtually any other state in the nation. They seem to have both a short-term and a long-term memory problem. I would never live in that state. Not for any amount of money.

I find it amazing that someone intelligent enough to pass the bar can believe things that are demonstrably false.

These comments are way too funny. Guess you forget that a carving of Moses with the Ten Commandments is displayed in the Supreme Court’s courtroom. You just cannot make this up. Thanks for the laugh.

How can one be an impartial judge if he has already stated that the law of the state takes a back seat to (his view of) God's law? As others have stated, though, since it's Alabama it's not a big surprise. Funny how those most opposed to the idea of Muslim Sharia-type law support the Christian version of religion-based law.

For all of you folks who are still complaining about our recent same-sex marriage amendment vote results, sounds like Alabama may just be the place for you.

How interesting that today is the 50th anniversary of George Wallace's "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, and segregation forever" speech. Roy Moore's supporters are the not much different than Wallace's of 50 years ago. Both men are on the wrong side of history.

...and the nation re-elected Barack Obama by a commanding margin????? Obama won the popular vote by a 2.5% margin. I wouldn't really call that a "commanding margin".
