Maybe if Apple would have the supply up front, they would not lose customers. I love my Iphone, but Apple really does need to come up with something eye catching. Finally, would it kill them to add a few extra cables/ adapters to make up for the new "needed" plug? I'm sure it will be fine in the future, but does every last dollar really matter when you have billions stockpiled?

I'm an 'apple' guy, at least for phones. I think the iPhone 5 is the result of when you get leadership that focuses solely on technology and bottom-line. iP5 offers absolutely nothing to today's user. There are some 'purist' concepts there but nothing else. My advice (which is free) - look deeper down in the ranks for more creativity and not just 'business acumen’.

I only have the 4S, but people I know weren't happy when they discovered they had to buy new charges etc: because Apple pulled a fast one making all previous phones incompatable with the new phones.

Apple needs to get off their high horse and start cutting prices on their phones and tablets. Other companies are putting out cheaper units that are just as good, and in some cases better, than what they are putting out at a higher cost to consumers. Consumers are getting smarter about what they are purchasing and name alone isn't going to keep Apple at the top of the food chain. I've own the 3Gs and 4s. I'm not anti-Apple, but I'm starting to smell what's cooking else where.

It is 5 years since iPhone came on the market. Apple still does not sell their iPhones to anyone who wants to buy it. They still rely on agreements with suppliers. For example to this day Apple does not make iPhones that are compatible with T-mobile's HSDPA network. T-mobile has 30 million customers - more than the adults in all of Canada. Apple still does not sell iPhones to the world's largest wireless company China Mobile with 600 million customers nor to Japan's Doco Mo. If it is going to rely exclusively on AT&T and Verizon customers for a replacement cycle then it should be priced like a Utility company not a growth stock. Even at this price Apple is a sell. You do not want to hear their outlook for current quarter next Wednesday!
