The mischievous Zenon Konopka, a newcomer to the Wild, has few idle moments.

Too bad "old-time" hockey means that something that is not allowed in any other sport, fighting, is allowed, appreciated and celebrated. There is no rational reason hockey needs to be different than any other sport. Problem is the neanderthals who keep promoting that there is a valid purpose in hockey for fighting. Hockey is chicken-##### to think fans will turn against them if they eliminate it or that suddenly skilled players will be hurt. And if fans only show up to watch fighting, they aren't fans of skilled hockey. I wish the sport and the fans would grow up and move on to the 21st century. Maybe then the NHL will be as popular as college or high school hockey are.

Loop, perhaps you should look into following tennis? It will be great to have a guy that can both play, and keep control on the ice. I am sick of getting bullied around every rink we step into, including ours! We NEED a guy like this. I have never seen him play, and I am a fan!

How desperate has it gotten for this Timberwolves / b-ball fan? I'm actually looking forward to the Wild and hockey season... even after they (management and players) abused fans by holding out forever!

Did you pay attention to the T-wolves last year? You know, after NBA management and players abused the fans by holding out?

Been a small fan of ZK every since he was in Tampa Bay. Heard DR nearly traded for him at some point as well. Either way, excited to see him play in Minnesota this winter. Guy sounds like quite the character.

Welcome to ZK,the Wild were too soft and needed to add grit.I know he plays center, but I'd like to see him on a line with Granlund--to keep someone like Ott from taking a run at him.

Looking forward to watching him on our team. Hockey is a sport that brings out agression/adrenaline. I've played them all and hockey is just different this way...hard to explain. Fighting is just fine in the NHL and it won't go away because it's inherent to the game. I just wish the league would turn back the clock a little and start encouraging all players to be able/willing/expected to drop if need be. This business of putting it all on one or two guys' shoulders is garbage. Get away from specialists, and promote more generalists - especially when it comes to the physical attributes of the game.

This ZK should make for some interesting stories this short season. I like the fact that for the first time, the Wild have got a tough guy that can actually do something other than trade punches.

I think to appease the faint of heart, all combatants that want to fight on the ice will be given oversized foam Hulk fist gloves and be granted two minutes to pummel one another until one falls to the ground.

Anyone find video of ZK grabbing a face-off opponent's stick during a draw. Curious about him doing it and seeing reactions.
