Well, that all sounds very appealing. How about we betray the trust handed down through 236 years of American work and service to ensure a stable government because of political factions driven by outside influences? As John Adams said, "We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

If you thought the fiscal cliff was a fiasco.. just wait. If congress really cared about uncertainty, they would tackle this problem sooner than last second. I for one will not be investing another dime until after this is resolved. That is how much faith I have in our Congress not to bring about another financial disaster.

Ironic that Obama is threatening about Social Security checks being impacted when he hasn't come through on his promise to identify cuts to Govt spending. Once again "not my fault" leadership.

The first payments to be skipped should be congress, the house, and any other federally elected officials involved in this mess. They have failed miserably at doing their jobs. There is no excuse to keep spending like there's no tomorrow and not know where the money is coming from. If you can't afford it, don't spend it - period.

It is going to be harder for the left to keep going for more taxes and further hurting the fragile economy. I wonder if the reason there is no budget and free wheeling spending is because the left truly does want to destroy this country as we have heard over and over. They can't keep building a bigger and bigger debt without figuring out how to pay it off. Wonder what the end game looks like. Anyone read Obama's books in order to find out?? Very tragic end to a great society.

Where are the Cuts Obama. You promised 3 dollars in cut for every dollar in revenue increase. So Far, we are at 2 Dollars of spending INCREASE for every dollar in revenue. Now, if you are to keep your promise, you have to come up with 5 Dollars in cuts! Yeah, like this joker has ever keep a promise.

Well, isn't that a fine how-do-you-do! My landlord would really love me telling them I can't pay my rent because the government is broke. Imagine what 60 million social security recipients telling their landlords or public housing managers that and it will do to the economy and our lives. This is the kind of stuff that starts revolutions. And they wonder why so many people will not be willing to give up their guns.

Obama average annual deficit has been 1.5 trillion dollars since this wizard took over. The fiscal cliff was created by this clown because he has no understanding of finance or business. We are on pace to have a 23 trillion dollar deficit by the time this disaster is finished. There never was and there still isn't anyone to blame but Obama for our current situation. He was never qualified to be our president and he never will be. He is not a smart person, just extremely arrogant and misguided and this entire cluster F is due to uneducated, foolish voters.

The first payments to be skipped should be expense report checks and payroil checks for members of the US Congress.

Extraordinary steps to avoid debt limit? Right now under Obama, our government takes in about 3 billion dollars per day. A large sum no doubt, however right now under Obama, our government spends about 11 billion dollars per day. We have had our first ever credit downgrade, and Obama's fifth year estimated deficit is set at 1.5 trillion dollars and not including that figure, we have amassed over six trillion dollars in new debt since Obama has taken office. What exactly do you think will happen is we continue following this pattern? What do you say we actually admit that the economy is NOT getting better under Obama. What do you say we admit there is a massive SPENDING problem, and put in place some logical legislation that will address and hopefully correct this downward spiral? We are at a crossroads, and this is indeed very, very serious.
