It's troubling that an organization in favor of assault weapons for the masses has so much influence in our government.

Everyone has the right "to bear arms" under the Second Amendment but let them bear arms from the period. How many innocents would die if some whacho had to use a front loading musket vs a glockm ak47 or other assault weapon. Will it take someone to walk into a school with a majority of NRA kids and kill them before this lobby will finally admit that we need some sort of control? Doubt they lost kids at Columbine, the theater shooting, Newtown...but once they do...they will be the first to scream at the administration to do something.

Start with the assault rifles and then move into the process of banning the rest of the guns. Get rid of them all. They say, "Guns don't kill people." But in the next sentence, they'll say, "I need my gun for protection." Riiiiight, so guns don't kill people, but they can protect you. Riiiiiiiight, because nobody with a gun has ever been killed. Start the banning now, please. The 2nd amendment has been misread for years, it does not give the right to an ordinary citizen the right to keep and bear arms.

Here's what troubles me: an unelected lobby is saying what goes in this country. I don't care who or what they're supporting ... this is not democratic process when a group that never has to report to the majority has no problem declaring what can or can't happen. And last I looked, the democratic process is also the basis of our constitutional rights.

If were going to ban guns, lets start with the 1st amendment. The media and hollywood have as much to do with this than anything else.

Bad people do bad things regardless of the laws. They will find a way to do what they want how they want when they where ever they want. Laws only affect those that are willing to abide by them. It is sad when we let emotions over-rule logic and reasoning.

Congress won't because they took an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States when they took office. To those who so stupidly parrot the line about letting them bear the arms of the day when the ammendment was written I say that a woman should have a right to an abortion using the methods available during the 1700s. Then I would agree to the premise regarding guns as well.

maypow Those "Brown Bess" muskets that won our freedom from Britain, were the assualt rifles of the day. They were military rifles. These were the top notch weapons of the day. If it wasn't for these weapons, we couldn't have won our freedom.
