The city was stupid for buying the Target Center in the first place. It serves no public purpose and amounts to a gift to the billionaire owner, Glen Taylor. The city should just hand the deed over to the Timberwolves and let them do whatever thy want with it. I can guarantee you that the improvements wouldn't be nearly as extensive if the Wolves had to pay for it themselves.

What is the discussion? If the basketball players need something extravagant they are welcome to it. But why would somebody other than the timberwolves pay for it? What a scam these sports clubs pull on us. They are nothing but scummy welfare cheats.

Just pass another sales tax to pay for the renovations. We bought the Twins a new stadium, are buying the Vikings a new stadium, built the Gophers a new stadium, are buying the Saints a new stadium, etc. etc. etc. Just put another tax on it. And while you are at it, put another tax for the Minnesota orchestra and the SPCO. What's another .25%? Just keep adding them in. The politicians just see us as ATM's.

Then, pull the public funding for the places you named above. Lets see which receives private funding first to keep them running. You guys are aware that the timberwolves have brought the state over 100 million in ticket sales tax revenue? Claiming that of the timberwolves left the city would be better off, ignores the income that we do receive.

Minneapolis needs a complete change in city government. Rybak isn't running but we need to get rid of meg tuthill and the rest of the city council and stop these give aways to pro sports.

Yes give no money to sports teams...then we have city like Arden hills. They have a big plot of land with nothing to fill it.

A Renovation of Target Center is a waste of money, it will sell no tickets or bring events to DT Mpls. because like the Metrodome it is antiquated. New Arenas around the country have been packing in crowds for concerts and other events adding revenue tax dollars for their city and if we build a new arena the Gophers can play there, helps recruiting, until they can decide what to do with Williams Arena. The new Target Center should be a part of a Rejuvenation Plan for Downtown Minneapolis. Business Leaders?
