The Basketball Power Index ratings on ESPN.com had the Gophers ranked as the No. 2 team in the country behind No. 1 Duke going into Saturday, when a terrible first half cost Tubby Smith's squad in an 88-81 loss at Indiana.

Good job Casey "Gus" Bradley! All those days we played football in the backyard and wearing our Vikings jerseys in that little Zumbrota town, population 1800, dreaming about playing for the Vikes. Congrats on all your success Gus. Your childhood friend...Liem!

On such a cold weekend, it's great to kick back in a warm house and actually get to watch some exciting games. Between the Gophers/UI game, the Broncos/Ravens thriller, and watching the Packers get their butts kicked, it has been a great weekend for sports and it's not even over yet!

Aaron Rodgers looked like a very old man yesterday and had the look of someone that had lost his desire. 'Strapping on a championship belt' reminds me of kids in the sandlots,a childhood is a terrible thing to lose!!

Yes, this Gophers team can play with the best. Now they have to take the next step and win against the best. Thursday at The Barn should be just the right time and place to start. It will be rockin'. Go Gophs!

michigan may very well run the Goofs off the court. Indiana showed how to go after smith's offense and defense. I hope they prove me wrong.

If Smith wants to win against Michigan, he had better get his lane defense inside fixed. MI has quick and can shoot, and they match up perfectly against in MN's weakest area - Illinois ran right past the defenders inside from the key, and there was no fix, then so did Indiana - and again no fix... It is not hard to shoot 65% when the inside can't stop layups or defend 3s from the top of the key - the two highest percentage shots in basketball... Mbakwe may be a great rebounder and a great put back man, giving MN great strengths there, but he is also a weakness on lane defense inside and top of key 3s, and the last two opponent's game plans showed they see it too... Smith has not had strong inside schemes, and seems to have subjective vision inside - both Mbakwe and Eliason make plays and miss plays, and I have watched them both play against the first level of the opponent - one would think that Smith never sees the weakness of one against high percentage shots and only sees any weakness of any kind in the other...

I'm afraid my beloved Gophs don't have what it takes in the paint to consistently play with the B1G best. Hope I'm surprised on Thursday.

It's one thing to be a fan of your team. It's another thing to have legitimate confidence in your teams ability to compete. This Gopher basketball team proves it can compete. They are a pleasure to watch.

After the way Peyton Manning ended his season, two interceptions, one costing them the game, Adrian should be MVP without a doubt. But will they give it to Peyton because they love giving it it quarterbacks?
