It could make an excellent movie set for certain types of films... That usage would be fairly limited however. The buildings and grounds really are impressive in scale for a town the size of FF.

The two films shot there were "Geist" and "The Control Group." One starred Danny Lopez and the other starred Brad Dourif, repectively. Those films of no renown brought in close to a quarter million dollars into the local economy. Slightly disappointed that they aren't "recalled" by local officials. Both are in pre-production right now. The film "The Control Group." was responsible for the blood spills, since Geist's crews cleaned up after themselves.

Seems airy and perfect for a regional nursing / senior apartments facility. What is the current monthly rent per square foot in town?? Easy access to interstate would increase the drawing area.

Whoa. 13,000 people is tiny? Must be a city person writing this. I'm kind of wondering what my little Minnesota home town of 700 would be called.

"Those films of no renown brought in close to a quarter million dollars into the local economy." No, no they didn't. They're not even finished yet. Closer to the tens of thousands, if even that when push comes to shove. The Control Group has a budget of 1 million, which is admirable for a low-budget film and may actually be seen by a few people. Geist is an _extremely_ low-budget thriller and I can't imagine that it will even be seen in theatres. It's awesome that they are using the old RTC grounds as a movie set, but to assume that shooting low-budget horror films there will eventually pave the roads with gold in Fergus Falls is far-fetched at best.

From a Minneapolis resident: The grounds and the outside of the building are so beautiful. Please don't tear it down!!

Perhaps this can become an international effort, with full respect to the local community and to the state of Minnesota. This is an extraordinary compound and it would be a shame to lose it. Good luck saving it.

$500,000 per square foot to renovate, with a total cost of $50M to $100M? Boy, that facility sure looks bigger than 100 to 200 square feet. I can believe $500 per square foot, although it still seems high.

To Frankfurter, "No, no they didn't. They're not even finished yet. Closer to the tens of thousands, if even that when push comes to shove." Hotel costs for "The control Group" for the hotel that they called home was $125,000. Aproximately, Geist spent $10,000 on charges for hotels in the area. Other costs for food, catering, jobs to locals in the area is unknown. These two "known" costs equal $135,000 to the local economy which means that anything else spent in the economy brings us closer to the Quarter million dollars (several things were spent to purchase props in Fergus Falls from both films, many actors and PA's were from that area as well). I should have put those in the original comment to clarify.
