How on earth do the parents of today expect a young person to, all of a sudden, view them as an authority figure when they haven't been around them for most of their formative years? With children in daycare for most of their waking hours they are not with a parent but with a daycare employee. Do you actually think that they will see you as their ultimate authority just because you wish it?
