What a freaking joke!!!! "But I have a true understanding of what type of player is needed to fit in this scheme offensively and defensively. It's our job to make sure we make sure we try to get those players." Someone who can throw 5 yard passes and hand the ball off to AD? Brilliant Rick. How about Jerome Simpson? How about John Carlson? How about Erin Henderson? Yeah. Great idea Ricky. If you keep getting these "type" players we are effed far beyond what anyone thinks. That was soooo brilliant of you to take Ponder at 12 overall and have him throw 5 yard passes and hand the ball of to AD. THAT IS WHY WE NEEDED A GM. Keep patting yourself on the back Dbag.

New QB, New WRs, new line coach that can teach pass blocking, Linebackers that with some speed to cover the pass.

Offensive keepers: 1) HB Peterson, 2) Felton, 3) WR Harvin (unless they can be a great deal for him), 4) TE Rudolph, 5) LT Kalil, and 6) C Sullivan. Any one of these guys could be a pro-bolwer. I would also keep 7) LG Johnson who is pretty solid. 8) QB Ponder perhaps (because its damn near impossible to find a great QB). Offensive players in question: 9) RG Fusco who was the most inconsistent O-linemen, 10) RT Loadholt who is a FA, and 11) WR (the Vikings have none). Defensive keepers: 1) DE Allen, 2) DE Robinson, 3) DE Griffen, 4) LB Greenway, 5) S Smith, and 6) NB Winfield who still has a bit left. I would also keep 7) CB Robinson who has the talent to be solid once he gains a bit more experience. 8) S Sanford perhaps. He could compete with Blanton, Sendejo, and Raymond. Defensive players in question: 9) DT K Williams who isn't the same player anymore (2 sacks), 10) LB Brinkley who had a modest 97 tackles (poor for a MLB), and 11) CB Cook who in 3 years is still looking for his first INT. We could also use a nose tackle, because P Williams was never really replaced.

There are positives to build on, and because the draft has no marquee QBs and neither does FA (Alex Smith is not worth it), Ponder gets another year.

I was optimistic we would go 8-8 this year. Young Team rebuilding I say most draft choices are very good. Keep up the progress.

Gets some WRs that can get open more consistently and in less time, Draft another promising DB (going to need them for stacked passing teams) Tell Ponder and the WRs that they should go workout with AP. Get better footwork and practice throwing Deep and on the run ( the drills AP does should at least help with footwork and agility as well as toughness) then have another draft like last year and the team is in VG shape

More free advice; don't overspend to keep Phil "false start" Loadholt. Just sayin'

Vikings did much better than anyone expected! That being said, they have a glaring weakness in their passing game. Consider what might have happened to this team if AP re-injured his leg halfway into the season. Without his breakaway threat opposing defenses could focus more on our QB and try as I might, I don't see an NFL level passing game. Needs, QB, O line, receiving corp, all of the above, none? It's not my job to determine! But given the teams' non-existent passing game even when their "number 1" guy is at the helm, the coaching, the general manager or both reside in some sort of dreamland!

Sure, the Carlson signing was a major mistake, but Simpson was worth the gamble on a 1-year contract. Especially when the other free agents were so expensive. The Vikes pull off 10 wins this season and some of you posting on here are upset? Some people will never be happy.

to expect another draft like last year is unrealistic. Last years draft was maybe the best ever! Almost everyone had extensive playing time and were very productive as rookies. That kind of draft doesn't always happen. Having two in the first round was brilliant work. Ponder will develop into a good QB in time. I want him to be better now also, but he has some skills to build on. He would have had a much better year with some receivers other than Percy. Simpson, Aromashado, Jenkins and company wouldn't be on most teams period. When we drop them from the roster no other team will pick them up...We need linebacking and we need receiving help the most. Get shored up there and this is a different, more competitive team. 10 wins was better than anyone expected for this year...
