There must be benchmarks for this Higher Ed market. Where does the University stand relative to them?

So, when the GOP asked the U to cut costs the DFL screamed that they were gutting Higher Ed. Now that the DFL is in control all of a sudden they are concerned with costs at the U.

If I were Publisher, I'd be calling for at least a week longer series on the obvious oversupply of Higher Ed in Minnesota. We get daily bombarded with print, radio, TV, web, mail, billboard, and bus placards. I personally know of one well known institution that runs a boiler room to get students, often by irresponsible financing. We see thousands of jobless graduates with useless degrees in their pockets. So if the U added 9,000 students, it simply took them from other providers; it filled no supply gap. Worse, our venerable private colleges suffer from increasingly unfair public competition. The Higher Ed budget should be flatlined, excess campuses closed, until we get the supply back down to match actual, needed demand.

The U needs to stop catering to the degrees that have ZERO meaning in todays society. . there are probably 3 dozen "degrees" offered thru humanities, ending in "studies" - what does that even mean to have a degree in "ancient asian studies" or similar?
